FAQ
Absolutely! We’ve designed the HiMill Series with a "User-First" philosophy to ensure professional manufacturing is accessible to everyone.
While CNC machining is a broad field—especially CAD/CAM—we provide a complete learning ecosystem to support you:
- Guided Learning: Detailed manuals and step-by-step projects to get you started fast.
- MAXMAKE Wiki: Comprehensive knowledge base and technical guides at wiki.maxmake.com.
- Global Community: Join thousands of owners on our Facebook Group & Discord Server for instant help and inspiration.
Absolutely! The HiMill D1 is engineered with the industrial-grade rigidity required for serious metalworking, but it’s important to understand the practical limits.
The Hardcore Proof: We successfully machined TC4 (Grade 5 Titanium), a material notorious for being a "tool killer." The D1 exceeded expectations with incredible stability. Watch TC4 Machining Video
The Honest Truth about Steel: Can it cut Carbon Steel? Theoretically, yes. Practically? It’s not recommended for production. In our tests on low, medium, and high carbon steel, we had to reduce feed rates to an extremely slow 0.05mm - 0.1mm. While it works, the efficiency is too low for real-world projects. - Best Performance: Aluminum (6061/7075), Brass, Copper, and Titanium (TC4).
- Versatile Materials: Also excels at Carbon Fiber, Hardwood, and Engineering Plastics.
- Expert Advice: If your primary workflow is cutting steel, please invest in a large industrial CNC.
At MAXMAKE, we value integrity. Use the HiMill D1 for what it does best: providing professional-level precision on your desktop. Don’t buy the wrong tool for the job.
The HiMill series is a high-precision professional desktop CNC designed to deliver industrial-grade performance within a compact footprint.
- Working Area: Features a generous machining space of 280 x 200 x 80 mm (X/Y/Z) with a maximum passage height of 82mm.
- D1S Machining Precision: Achieves a remarkable accuracy of ±0.02mm, ensuring professional-grade detail for every project.
- Material Versatility: Easily machines non-ferrous metals (Aluminum, Brass, Copper) as well as Wood, Acrylic, and Engineering Plastics.
- Physical Specs: Compact outer dimensions of 450 x 425 x 350 mm. The HiMill D1 weighs 17kg (37.48 lbs), while the D1S weighs 19kg (41.89 lbs).
Note: The Z-axis is mounted on the X-axis for maximum rigidity and stability during heavy metal machining.
HiMill supports industry-standard CAM software. We are constantly adding and updating post-processor profiles based on our community's needs to ensure a seamless workflow.
Currently, we recommend two primary CAM solutions depending on your project type:
- Fusion 360: The top choice for designing and machining functional mechanical parts, robotics, and drone components.
- VCarve Desktop: Perfect for creative projects like woodworking, jewelry making, and artistic crafts. Its 2D toolpaths are also excellent for milling PCBs.
Exciting News: We are also developing our own proprietary CAM software, designed specifically to make the HiMill experience even more intuitive. We hope to launch it in the near future—stay tuned!
The HiMill series supports a versatile range of tool diameters, though the collet systems differ between models to provide optimized precision.
Please refer to the specifications for your specific model to ensure accessory compatibility:
- HiMill D1: Uses industry-standard ER11 collets. It comes equipped with a 3.175mm (1/8") collet. You can expand its compatibility to support tool shanks from 1mm to 7mm by using any standard ER11 collets.
- HiMill D1S: Features a high-precision integrated spindle and comes standard with a 3.175mm (1/8") collet.
D1S Upgrade:
If you wish to use 6mm or 4mm tools on your D1S, we offer a specialized Collet Kit (ONLY FOR D1S). This essential bundle includes:
- 6mm Spindle Collet
- 6-4 & 6-3.175 Collet Adapters
- Custom Collet Disassembly Wrench
⚠️ Compatibility Warning: The Collet Kit sold in our store is designed specifically for the D1S architecture and is NOT compatible with the D1 model, which uses the standard ER11 system.
We offer global door-to-door shipping through reliable logistics partners to ensure your HiMill arrives safely and efficiently.
Our customs and tax policy is designed to be as hassle-free as possible:
- Standard Shipping (DDP - Taxes Included): For most major regions, our default method is Sea Freight DDP (Delivered Duty Paid). This means we handle customs clearance and prepay import taxes/VAT for you—no hidden fees upon delivery.
- Regional Upgrades & Remote Areas (DAP): If your location is outside our standard sea freight coverage, we will consult our carriers for Express or Air Freight upgrades. In these instances, shipping may switch to DAP (Delivered at Place), where the recipient is responsible for local duties and VAT.
- VAT/Tax Refund Invoices: If you are a business user and require a formal commercial invoice for local tax or VAT refund purposes, please contact our customer support team immediately after placing your order.
- Secure Packaging: Every HiMill is protected by high-density foam and heavy-duty reinforced crates to ensure it withstands international transit without damage.
