Why Choose HiMill D1?

Built on a solid all-cast aluminum base and powered by a 250W air-cooled spindle, the HiMill D1 delivers industrial-grade stability. Combining power with ease of use, it achieves a precision of ±0.04mm — perfect for manufacturers, jewelers, and DIY enthusiasts

Industrial-Grade Cast Aluminum Frame

Engineered with a topology-optimized structure and constructed from high-strength cast aluminum, this rigid frame delivers 150% greater stiffness than conventional CNC machines. Advanced mechanical simulations ensure effective vibration suppression, allowing for heavy-duty metal machining in a compact desktop form factor.

Zero-Backlash Precision

Forget about spring-loaded nuts that flex under load. The HiMill D1 utilizes a custom-engineered Rigid Anti-Backlash Nut. Unlike conventional spring designs that degrade over time, our rigid structure ensures constant contact and zero play, providing the stiffness required for heavy-duty milling and long-term precision.

Smart 3D Probing System

Automated Zeroing & Surface Mapping

Achieve perfect first layers every time. Our specialized XYZ 3D Probe features gold-plated tungsten components for ultra-stable feedback. With 0.02mm trigger accuracy, it effortlessly handles auto-leveling for uneven surfaces (like PCBs) and precise part zeroing.

Ultra-Precision 3D Probing

Say goodbye to manual zeroing. The 3D Touch Probe automates your setup process, delivering <±0.02 mm repeatability for precise Edge Finding, Hole Centering, and Surface Mapping.

Height Mapping & Auto-Leveling

Essential for PCB Milling. The system combines real-time toolpath visualization with 3D probe scanning to generate precise height maps. Even if your copper board is warped, our adaptive algorithms automatically compensate for surface variations, ensuring perfectly even engraving depth across the entire circuit.

Pro-Grade Milling Power on Your Desktop

High-Torque Spindle System

Don't let the size fool you. The 250W High-Torque Spindle cuts through Aluminum, Copper, and Brass with ease. Capable of speeds up to 1000mm/min, it delivers clean finishes on metals and rapid removal on softer materials like wood and plastics.

Expanded Workspace

With a generous 280×200×80mm working area, which accommodates larger projects while maintaining precise dimensional accuracy.

Unlock True 3D Machining

• Fourth-axis rotary attachment for complex 3D machining • Vacuum workholding platform for secure material fixation

FAQ

Absolutely! We’ve designed the HiMill Series with a "User-First" philosophy to ensure professional manufacturing is accessible to everyone.

While CNC machining is a broad field—especially CAD/CAM—we provide a complete learning ecosystem to support you:

  • Guided Learning: Detailed manuals and step-by-step projects to get you started fast.
  • MAXMAKE Wiki: Comprehensive knowledge base and technical guides at wiki.maxmake.com.
  • Global Community: Join thousands of owners on our Facebook Group & Discord Server for instant help and inspiration.

Absolutely! The HiMill D1 is engineered with the industrial-grade rigidity required for serious metalworking, but it’s important to understand the practical limits.

The Hardcore Proof: We successfully machined TC4 (Grade 5 Titanium), a material notorious for being a "tool killer." The D1 exceeded expectations with incredible stability. Watch TC4 Machining Video

The Honest Truth about Steel: Can it cut Carbon Steel? Theoretically, yes. Practically? It’s not recommended for production. In our tests on low, medium, and high carbon steel, we had to reduce feed rates to an extremely slow 0.05mm - 0.1mm. While it works, the efficiency is too low for real-world projects. • Best Performance: Aluminum (6061/7075), Brass, Copper, and Titanium (TC4).
  • Versatile Materials: Also excels at Carbon Fiber, Hardwood, and Engineering Plastics.
  • Expert Advice: If your primary workflow is cutting steel, please invest in a large industrial CNC.

At MAXMAKE, we value integrity. Use the HiMill D1 for what it does best: providing professional-level precision on your desktop. Don’t buy the wrong tool for the job.

The HiMill series is a high-precision professional desktop CNC designed to deliver industrial-grade performance within a compact footprint.

  • Working Area: Features a generous machining space of 280 x 200 x 80 mm (X/Y/Z) with a maximum passage height of 82mm.
  • D1S Machining Precision: Achieves a remarkable accuracy of ±0.02mm, ensuring professional-grade detail for every project.
  • Material Versatility: Easily machines non-ferrous metals (Aluminum, Brass, Copper) as well as Wood, Acrylic, and Engineering Plastics.
  • Physical Specs: Compact outer dimensions of 450 x 425 x 350 mm. The HiMill D1 weighs 17kg (37.48 lbs), while the D1S weighs 19kg (41.89 lbs).

Note: The Z-axis is mounted on the X-axis for maximum rigidity and stability during heavy metal machining.

HiMill supports industry-standard CAM software. We are constantly adding and updating post-processor profiles based on our community's needs to ensure a seamless workflow.

Currently, we recommend two primary CAM solutions depending on your project type:

  • Fusion 360: The top choice for designing and machining functional mechanical parts, robotics, and drone components.
  • VCarve Desktop: Perfect for creative projects like woodworking, jewelry making, and artistic crafts. Its 2D toolpaths are also excellent for milling PCBs.

Exciting News: We are also developing our own proprietary CAM software, designed specifically to make the HiMill experience even more intuitive. We hope to launch it in the near future—stay tuned!

The HiMill series supports a versatile range of tool diameters, though the collet systems differ between models to provide optimized precision.

Please refer to the specifications for your specific model to ensure accessory compatibility:

  • HiMill D1: Uses industry-standard ER11 collets. It comes equipped with a 3.175mm (1/8") collet. You can expand its compatibility to support tool shanks from 1mm to 7mm by using any standard ER11 collets.
  • HiMill D1S: Features a high-precision integrated spindle and comes standard with a 3.175mm (1/8") collet.

D1S Upgrade:
If you wish to use 6mm or 4mm tools on your D1S, we offer a specialized Collet Kit (ONLY FOR D1S). This essential bundle includes:

  • 6mm Spindle Collet
  • 6-4 & 6-3.175 Collet Adapters
